RETENTION AID
Used during the papermaking process to bind your pigment to your pulp - remember that a properly pigmented pulp should have clear water!
Supplied as 25g of powder with instructions on how to turn it into its liquid form.
FOR REFERENCE: This 25g bag of powder will make 5 litres of liquid retention aid. We mix up 2.5g at a time to make 500ml of retention aid and this lasts us a few weeks - a little goes a long way!
The liquid retention aid has a shelf life of around 2 months in the fridge and the powder should be stored in a cool, dry place.
The size of the resealable bag is approximately 9cm high by 6cm wide.
Use in combination with our pigments to create bold, lightfast and non-bleeding sheets.
HOW TO USE: Stir well before use. Add drops of your liquid retention aid mixture to your pulp very slowly while stirring the pulp until the pigment is retained in the fibres. Use a little at a time - it is possible to add too much retention aid to your pulp. You will know you have added enough when your water is clear. The darker your pulp/the more pigment used the more retention aid you will need.
